Awareness of form, aesthetics, and the intrinsic merits of glass – optic, texture and tactility – is the essential to the Scandinavian artistic process. Using the blown form as a starting point, this course will spotlight the Scandinavian glassmaking and design tradition. Daily demos will center on Swedish glassblowing techniques. A broad range of lectures and discussion about Scandinavian form and design, both historical and contemporary, will inspire students to use their personally developed language of form.
